We had about 400 students and parents join us for our BBQ evening. It was wonderful to hear our Kodaly Choir. The BBQ school council put on was awesome. Thank you all for joining us!

On Tuesday, May 27th our School Council hosted a BBQ so that we could have a proper BPS farewell and celebration to all of our families who will be attending Mackenzie King or Stanley Park Public School in September. About 15 years ago families from the Lackner area were told, against their wishes, that they were attending BPS. Our school was struggling with extremely low enrollment at that time. Then three years ago, again against their wishes, families from Lackner Woods were told that effective September 2014 they would be moved back to schools west of the Grand River.

This is a time of mixed emotions. Sadness as we are losing many friends. Excitement because our addition is taking place. Happiness about new school surroundings and new friends. Dismay because so many connections will be stretched and possibly lost. Then celebration over a BBQ to celebrate all that is ahead of us. We also had a presentation by our Kodaly Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Fergin and Mrs. McMillan. Their voices soared and we could hear and picture them on stage at Centre in the Square with almost 500 other students.

We are going to enjoy celebrating our many successes during the month of June. To our families from Lackner Woods, we will miss you and we will not forget you!
