From October 20- 31 the ME to WE group at Breslau Public School collected nonperishable food items for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.  1 in 20 people in our region use food support services.  ME to WE, which includes approximately 30 from Grades 6-8, collected a variety of foods, including canned meat and fish, baby formula, canned soup, pasta and pizza sauce. ME to WE students complete various fundraising projects throughout the school year,  which include both local and global projects.  The group is student driven and most of the decisions are made by the students with the support of their teachers.  For “We Scare Hunger,”  students created a display in the front foyer to keep track of the  items collected.  Our original goal for our school was 300 items and within the first day 750 items were collected.  As of today, we have well over 2000 items and will continue collecting until October 31.  The class with the most food items will be receiving a pizza party, donated from Pizza Napoli in Breslau.  Other community support has been provided by Canoeing the Grand, as they have been offering a $25 discount on trips, for people who donate to the food drive.  The Food Bank of Waterloo will be collecting the items from Breslau P.S. on November 1st.  Congratulations to the ME to WE group, the staff and students at Breslau P.S., and the community of Breslau for making a difference.
