Our school has organized a school-wide poppy project where every student and staff member has signed a poppy. Over 700 poppies will be on display at the Elmira Legion Nov. 5 and then moved to Woodlawn Cemetery in Guelph Nov. 11 (Soldier/Veterans section) for their public Remembrance Day event.
Woodlawn Cemetery- Sat. Nov. 11– On Remembrance Day we have the honour to have our poppies placed amongst the soldiers’ graves at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Guelph. The ceremony will be held at 10:45am at the Veterans’ area, below the Canadian flag, rear and centre of the cemetery. There will be an honour guard, a piper, and a few speakers to tell stories about the veterans resting in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The event is open to the public. Chairs will be provided and the service is audio enhanced. During the service, a Howitzer will be fired at the beginning and at the end of the moment of silence. The police and fire services will be in attendance, as well as the 11th Field Regiment of Royal Canadian Artillery. We hope you will be able to join us!
