Olympic DANCE-A-THON
February 27th (Feb 26th for RED Day Kindies)
Dear Parents and Guardians,
School council has been putting on the Dance-a-thon for several years and this year is no exception. What is exceptional, however, is what we are raising money for.
You are certainly aware that Breslau is a school under construction. Part of the addition to the school is a large courtyard that will be used by kindergarten students during nutrition breaks and by the rest of the school population on occasion. This year, funds from the Dance-a-thon will be put towards bringing this area of the school to life with a creative playground.
We will be working together with WRDSB consultants to make the Courtyard a special place to hop, skip, jump and learn. The cost of the creative playground is estimated at $30,000 and so far we have raised $10,000. The Dance-a-thon is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we hope you will help to make it a success.
Our theme, in honour of the Sochi Olympic Games, is “Keep the Flame Alive” . Everyone has been inspired by the Winter Olympics and we want to celebrate our Canadian athletes for their efforts in Sochi. So get your children decked out in Red and White and get ready to Celebrate.
Pledges
Every student will receive a pledge form and sealable plastic bag to put the pledge form and collected money in, which is due back no later than Monday, February 24th, 2014. Although pledges will be accepted after that date, late pledges will not be considered for Top Fundraiser Prizes.
Raffle and Prizes
To encourage the students to raise money for the school, there is a raffle that goes along with the Dance-a-thon. For every $5.00 that a student raises in pledges, they will be given a raffle ticket that they will be able to put into a drop box for the prize of their choice. To see all the great prizes, please visit the showcase in the front hall. The raffle draw will take place on Friday, February 28th, 2014.
Special prizes will be awarded to the Top Fundraiser Girl and Top Fundraiser Boy in JK/SK, as well as the Top Fundraiser in Grade 1-3; 4-6 and 7&8. As well, there will be a Pizza party awarded to the class that raises the most money.
How to Solicit Pledges?
Students are asked to NOT GO DOOR TO DOOR! Please ask family, friends and neighbours that you know well. Flat rate pledges paid in advance are requested and appreciated. This year we also have an option for those of you who would like a Tax Receipt. Please see details on the pledge form.
Thanks for your support as we raise money for the new creative playground,
Breslau School Council
