June 12th, 2020
Please note: This message was sent out to families previously through School-Day.
We are pleased to share the process for the retrieval of student belongings from your child’s locker/classroom. Please read this email in its entirety as it contains important details and information regarding the process. Any items that are not able to be sorted or all unclaimed items will be donated and/or discarded in July.
This week, teachers will be sorting and gathering classroom items so families can pick them up early next week. Teachers will do their best to determine which items belong to whom, focusing on personal items such as shoes/clothes, binders, etc. that are labelled with a name. Please note that we will not be sending student work home at this time as returning personal items is our priority.
We also recognize that not all students will have items to retrieve from the school as many were able to take their belongings home with them on March 13th.
On Monday June 15, a member of your family will be asked to attend the school to:
- Return any school items such as library books, home reading books, textbooks/ novels, musical instruments, etc. This includes Chromebooks for grade 8s or other students who are not returning in the fall, etc.;
- Pick up any personal belongings left at the school.

Before coming to the school it is imperative that the parent/guardian and child complete the Region of Waterloo Public Health COVID-19 Self-Assessment and
-
- Be free of COVID-19 symptoms
- Not have been in close contact with any individual diagnosed with COVID-19 or exhibiting potential COVID-19 symptoms
- If the self-assessment indicates recommendations for care/isolation, and/or the conditions a) or b) are not met, do not come to the school/site.
You will be given a designated date and time to arrive at the school. Please only arrive at your designated date and time. The WRDSB has an obligation to follow social gathering requirements set out by the Government of Ontario as well as the critical physical (social) distancing criteria outside and inside the facility at all times.

- Please do not bring in any additional items such as bags or backpacks. A plastic bag will be provided.
Important Notes:
-
- If you have a child(ren) in Kindergarten to grade 6, there is a process in place to pick up their items at your scheduled time as well so that you will not need to return another day to gather their belongings.
- All returning grade 7 students can keep borrowed school technology (Chromebooks) through the summer. Students who are graduating or not returning in September, need to return borrowed Chromebooks.
- A parent or guardian must accompany the student into the school.
- School washrooms and water fountains will be closed.
- School Offices and classrooms will be closed.
- If you or your child is feeling ill in any way, please do not come to the school. Contact the Main Office to make alternate arrangements.
Entering the School:
- Please line up outside the front doors of the school according to the physical distancing markers
- A member of our staff will be at the entrance door to review health and safety information and provide you with information for how to move through the school site to your child’s locker. Please let this individual know if you have items to be picked up for a younger student in Kindergarten through grade 6. We will retrieve these items for you while your older child gathers their belongings.
- Parents/Guardians/Students are encouraged to bring and wear gloves and masks (or appropriate face coverings) to the school with them. Please note: The WRDSB will not be providing gloves or masks.
- You will be provided with a bag to collect your child’s belongings. Please do not bring your own bags for this purpose.
Collecting Items from Lockers:
Students must attend the school with 1 parent/guardian only to retrieve items from lockers. Please use the bag provided to collect your child’s belongings from their locker as quickly and efficiently as possible. Please do not enter any classrooms.
